Re: Wednesday thread

Oh Mags - you could be in trouble!
Look at this

Munching mince pies could land you in trouble this Christmas - and not just when you step on the scales.
Oliver Cromwell banned the Yuletide treats in the 17th century, and the law has never been repealed.
The wacky festive fact is one of dozens unearthed by text message fact service Any Questions Answered.
Other Christmas queries fielded by the company, quoted by The Sun, include:
Is it true you can't play football on Christmas Day?
Yes. Henry VIII banned all sport on December 25 apart from archery, but never enforced the law because he was fond of a kickabout.
How many cards do we send each year?
More than 1.8bn - meaning 200,000 trees have to be chopped down.
Can I drive to Christmas Day Mass?
No. According to a law passed in 1551 - and never repealed - everyone has to go to church on foot.
Is it wrong to put decorations up before Christmas Eve?
Traditionally, anyone who puts up decorations before then attracts evil spirits.
How much turkey does Britain cook every Christmas?
More than 19,000 tonnes every year - 6,711 fresh and 12,472 frozen.

There you are - more than you ever wanted to know!
