scurf/hair loss

Hallo all,

My 11 year-old cat Sam has a patch on his upper flank, not upper back, about 3cm across. The scurf is light. The fur seems to fall out of its own accord - I've never caught him scratching the area. He may not be aware of it!

I have been giving him 3 x kitzyme conditioning tablets daily for 4 days now and it is still too early to notice any improvement.

Any idea what it is? What else can I purchase to heal him?

Thanks in anticipation.

Is he licking it a lot? If I were you I'd get him to the vets and see what they say ...

Re: scurf/hair loss

well my cat, Pantufa started loosing alot of fur and on the areas where she had no fur, she would lick alot and then it would turn into wounds. I took her to the vet, and she started taking injections every once a week (+ vitamin pills for her fur). She has recovered 90%. I continue to take her to the vet though - I will only become totally satisfied when she is 100 percent recovered. So, I suggest you ought to do the same to your cat.

I'd also suggest a trip to the vet, these things can be caused by simple allergies to more serious conditions, always better to get a vet diagnosis.

My cat book states:

Allergic skin disease....This common group of diseases is difficult and frustrating to diagnose and treat.

Sounds like expensive lotion from expensive vet .... here we go!

Caught him licking area and then tugging on his fur. It took just 3 seconds.

Has anyone any suggestions? Yes I know he's got to go to the vets soon.

Well it's obviiously causing him some discomfort so yes the only suggestion is the vet.

Dont mean to be cheeky but its it because of financial reasons that you havent had your cat seen by a vet since your first post?
