it doesn't look too good - I would bring the bird in and maybe take it to a vets - might be kinder to have it pts if it is beyond help - so its not suffering any more.

The baby sparrow has gone - before I went out I had a look and it seemed brighter, now its gone, checked all under the bushes etc....

Fingers crossed it managed to gain its confidence and fly back off.
