New potato variety

Mmmm..... it looks like we will be getting a new, tastier potato soon! I must admit I find some of the varieties in the shops now to be quite bland.

What variety do you buy? I usually go for Maris Piper or King Edwards.....

Re: New potato variety

I'm terrible at potatoes . . . I just buy the 1st thing that comes to hand. I couldn't tell them apart if you paid me!! The only ones I can readily differentiate are the baby new potatoes and sweet ones!!

Re: New potato variety

You usually only see them in natural food stores, such as Whole Foods; the big nationwide chains like Giant & Safeway don't carry them, or at least not here in Washington. No wonder; I simply cannot visualize blue mashed potatoes . Although thery're supposed to be higher in antioxydents than regular ones....they're not for me!!

Re: New potato variety

Moli, I agree that the blue ones are barf-inducing, but Yukon golds are really tasty and not an awful shade of yellow...very pale. Don't know if you can get them in the UK, they've been around here foe years & very popular!
