Mottisfont Abbey Gardens - Roses - (photo heavy!)

Last Wednesday I went to Mottisfont Abbey (National Trust) with a couple of friends. The gardens are well known for the wonderful rose displays in June.

I am sorry that I did not make a note of the names of the roses, but we were dodging showers!

Just to give a general impression of the walled garden .....

Some other pretty flowers ....

The River Itchen flows through part of the grounds and there were plenty of brown trout in this lovely chalk stream - can you spot one? .....

One of my friends said to me that she didn't have to ask if I had enjoyed my day out, because I had been smiling all the time! What could be better than having your nose in and out of beautifully perfumed roses all day?

What stunning pics, Angie, I can almost smell the roses. Love the pic with the rain drops on the blossom; I think the striped rose may be Rosa Mundi?? Yes, saw the trout, would line to have him broiled for dinner! Well captured shot! I could spend hours wandering in that walled garden. What a lovely day that must have been.
