Rover unlurking.

This is me:

I can also do this:

Hreow suspects this is what I'm trying to implement by sheer mind-power:

First impression:
There I was, minding my own business, lounging about a perfectly
good kitchen. Suddenly two strange two-leggers appeared, two-leg-mum said something about "new". Why new? Life's fine! I was rudely stuffed into a cage with only a pillow that my smelly siblings had slept on and *removed*! Actually taken through the front door into the cold! Not only that, but I was then put into the same sort of noisy thing that takes us to the vet! I complained! I cried! I pleaded! I swore (and the cat-toy-headed twolegger told me off and and to mind my language)! The nerve of some people. I grabbed her wrist and did my best to pull her into the cage so that she could see what it was like. Unfortunately she didn't fit through the bars, and she got away. Grumble... The other two-legger just said something about pity it being past half way, or he'd turn back. Don't know what that was about.
After two-and-a-half hour we finally arrived where we were going. Not bad. Lots of hideyholes and sneaky cat-paths, plenty of up to hunt from. I called Mum and Sam and Tico and.... but no-one came... Had a bite to eat in passing as well. Twolegger1 pulled back something, and do you know what? There were things going back and forth outside the window, green stringy things waving in the draft, another two-legger digging about with lots of chase-friendly and interesting movements. I climbed the funny thing in front of the show and spent the next ten minutes, bum up, tail twitching and completely fascinated.

After that I was tired. Twolegger1 made a lap, and since that was the warmest thing around, I decided that that would be a good place for forty winks. Quite cozy really. Then twolegger2 began to tap on the cat-bed they call "keyboard", the same way two-legged-mum did, and an investigation was again in order. There were lots of things bouncing around on-screen to watch, though two-legger2 grumbled when I tried to help with strategically placed paws.

After that I tried the toys (all of three seconds) and then found some shoelaces to hunt, catch and maul. I started half an hour ago, and I'm still doing it. Twolegger2 is great for games! and I fit very nicely into his sleeves. I think I will like this place. Twolegger1 (Hreow) sank back into the sofa and mumbled something about "Great! Cats sleep 80% of the time, and his strategy is obviously to sleep twelve weeks, then create chaos for three weeks running!".
She may be on to me...

I will try to make this more cozy, but you'll have to make do for now!

Great to have you back, Hreow, and the gorgeous Rover! You've been missed...how's the shoulder? Love the pics; he gets handsomer every day! Liked the one of the footprints; did one of Onyx's track in the recent snow, but my snow came out blue..??!! I've lost track: how old is Rover now?

Fran: Big-foot, the feline version.

DM ( x 2): Shoulder better, PVF and possible MS still not. : /

Yola: It's from the latest trip and it took me 150 rubbish photos to get that one decent. ^^

Thanks, Mags and Sweet.

Eileen: Rover is the grand old age of 19 months.
He's showing Saturday and mid May, if you care to come have a look? Actually, you're more than welcome any time you feel thus inclined.
My camera seems to underdo blue, may be something to do with being scuba-capable? The long, silvery fish in the photo are actually bright neon blue.

Re: Rover unlurking.

The wonderful words "you can have a cat, I've cleared it with the landlord" has to be one of the better things one can hear. So what sort of cat did I want? I've had a fair few moggies, both my own, fosters and cat-sitting cats, so I though I'd might want to try a pedigree. A kitten, because the better half thinks older cats are dull (not necessarily) and because I'm getting to the age where I have to think about being able to look after a cat twenty years from now when both of us will be old and less sleek of body. Better now than later! I quite like the look of Egyptian Maus and the Russian Blue, but I've never met one in person. I *have* met Abyssinians. One full Aby - a delightful character, and a half-Aby - completely bonkers, delightfully mad. Siamese are my type of cat as well (Gran had one), but both better half and Dad have a strong dislike of them, the latter at least with good reason, so I decide not to push my luck.

I spend quite a few months researching breeders, of all three breeds. No catshows for miles and miles to visit. The only bad things about Scotland. One queen in particular catches my fancy, and the breeders have a good reputation and do quite well at shows. When she has a nest, I get in touch with her staff and ask what they want from a prospective slave to the kittens. They tell me in easy sentences. They are quite firm about when they allow the kittens to be seen by strangers - sounds like caring people to me.

One glorious day in September I saddle up my trusty motorbike and zoof the two-and-a-half hours to visit. They take in my full set of leathers and just smile. I hasten to explain that I will *not* be picking up my prospective mittens by bike, but by car. I remove the clunky boots and the jacket for the household cat adults to investigate (making a mental note to check them for stowaways before I try wearing them again) and get escorted to the kitten-room. Mum cat looks at me with trust distinctly lacking, but consents to my presence when I don't dive for her kittens but curl up on the floor next to the door. The kittens are not particularly concerned either way. Two of them are wrestling under the bed and the third wobles and weaves his way towards me. My bike-leathers are open to the waist and there is a bulging fold in the top bit. Young Dr Livingcat finds this an acceptable place to venture to and fall asleep. Three guesses who is hooked.
I had first choice of the kittens, but really no choice at all. ^-^

This is the penultimate visit:

I was also introduced to the rest of his feline family, blood and "adopted". His Dad deigned to touch noses with me and his "uncle" gave me a swat for not paying enough attention to him. His "aunties" all got a complete scent-resumé off me before I left and seems quite at ease with me.

And this is how little he was when we brought him home:

He's grown quite a bit since...
