Re: Nice, heavily scented plants?

If you are after a deep heavy smell in late Spring Early Summer a Skimmia is a good choice, we have one in the front garden and everyone always comments and asks what the lovely smell is.

I was unfamiliar with the skimmia so did a search. Sounds like a lovely plant with the advantage of colorful berries during the Winter!

Random, what are the dimensions of your border? Is it full sun or partial shade?

It is about 4 meters long and however wide I want to make it as it needs digging out anyway. It is behind the house so gets the full sun in the morning and shade in the evening when the shadow of the house moves over if that makes sense?

Oh I might have to get one of those, even if for elsewhere in the garden, that's lovely!

Re: Nice, heavily scented plants?

That would be about 13 feet...a good sized border. You could fit in quite a few things, but remember to allow enough space for when the plants reach full size. Going to be fun to see what you decide on!!

Will keep you posted, have to see what the garden centre has to offer I guess but will go with an open mind so i'm not disappointed. My dad will keep me right anyway! if not then I could always look online too.

Just thought about Daphne - my neighbour has one and the beautiful perfume can be smelt from my garden too!

Look forward to hearing (and seeing?) how you decide to plant your border random.
