Oh dear PP, it is distressing when our furry folk fetch presents. At least its not both of them. Me and Mum had 13 cats between us when I lived on the farm. Although not all of them caught things, some days the yard looked a bit gruesome! Why not get hens, good idea. Just 3 would be enough to keep the grass down. We have 14 and they do a great job. Just make sure they are safe from the fox. We did have 19 but foxy has had 5. Visiting during the day the cheeky sod. Hens do tend to make a bit of a mess though, a friend of ours has a rabbit which does the job and nowhere near the mess. Her garden is escape proof but if you had a rabbit in a moveable pen it would work. Having had dealings with goats, personally I wouldn't have one. They eat EVERYTHING!!! Loved the hero cat, what a little soldier protecting it's owner like that. |

Afternoon all. P.P I feel for you, Cleo would hunt but not for a living so to speak. But Oz was a hunter I tried too and just gave up. Sorry you are having a hard time keeping the grass in line, have you thought about maybe getting some slabs/decking put down to reduce the amount you need to deal with? or some gravel to make a mediteranian sort of area. I am sure my sisters rabbit used to eat the grass - I think he did he did hate me though. If the garden is escape proof enough. but before it was they had a movable area so he could graze like they have with chickens now. Fecto's mum I am with you on the goat front!!!! a friend had a goat on the ground she kept a horse on blinking thing it was kept escaping. Not much happened here today having pie chips and baked beans for dinner. Have a good evening all. |
