Isn't it funny how you can be influenced by an individual from a particular breed of dog or cat for that matter? Many years ago I walked the South Down's Way as part of a West Sussex County Council group. There was an elderly lady with a fairly elderly Cavalier King Charles - they were both so brave - and did the whole 90 miles. I am ashamed to say that I have forgotten both the lady and the dog's names, but I do remember how brave and cheerful they were every day.
