Re: cat not using tray

I would try moving a tray into the spare bedroom and then slowly slowly move it back out. Not sure of the layout of the house. But rather than the issue of him moving elsewhere go with him and gently persuade him he by moving the tray back to where you want him.

Catsmy motto was always can't beat em join em and then get them to where you want them. There is often no logic we can see I think they just get it in there head due to something.

Re: cat not using tray

I can recommend using bicarbonate of soda to clean the area, mix a small ammount in a bowl of warm water and use it to clean the area, also works in a spray bottle. Much better than shop bought stuff at getting rid of the smell when they've used the floor instead of the tray, and alot cheaper too!

Did moving the tray solve the problem?

Re: cat not using tray

Didn't have any mess when we got up today thankfully!! We moved the covered tray from beside the dryer and put a spare in the end room. Will see when we go home tonight!

Re: cat not using tray

Good news! Hopefully you have sorted it out. Are you going to keep the tray where it is or move it back?

Re: cat not using tray

Hi Pamela,

Harris may have a problem with the dryer as Angieh mentioned it. For him it's big, noisy when running (maybe not for us, but cats hear much better than humans) he might be annoyed by that long, to not use the toilet on that spot for longer business.
May place the toilet in the same room, just far as possible from the dryer, and where is no much other traffic either and see hows he is getting on.

Regards,
Gabor

Re: cat not using tray

hes fine now. the dryer is very rarely on to be honest. we think he is trying to tell us he had a sore tummy s he did it again the other morning but hasnt done it again. we have cut out certain treats to see if that helps too
