Litter training

Well the little kittens I'm meant to be having are not fully litter trained. They will still ocassionally pee on the floor.

How do you litter train a kitten?

Dunno Nae - thought it was pretty much an automatic thing with kittens.

Can't remember ever having to 'train'.
Sorry, no help at all ( so what's new? they all ask)

I used to put Cassie in the tray frequently, catch hold of her front paws and show her how to scratch in the litter.....she soon learnt

Thanx DM I wasn't sure if it was an automatic thing or not. I've only ever owned one cat and she was an outdoor cat. Whenever she wanted to go toilet she'd tap me on the leg and run to the back door

Thanx Mags, Paul'll think I've lost the plot if he saw me doing that with the cats

well we had to teach 4 from 4 weeks old, Clementine and her brothers, and they were terrible, they would roll in the litter and kick it at each other

they got it ginally by being placed in after meals and when i saw them pacing, squatting pacing, scracthing the carpet or dissapearing off into corners, they leartn after a fortnight its a lot easier than house training puppies i have found

You will need to keep putting them in the litter tray even if you don't show them how to scratch Nae

Try it when Paul is out of the room

When I got C-Fur he had accidents. I did the same as Mags, worked a treat. Good luck. Just keep putting them in and make there front paws scatch. Worked within days!

Thanx guy's. I've been putting them in the litter tray as they were fed when they got here but they just keep jumping out and now they've decided to fall asleep in the welly rack
