It seems that it is not a Scottish thing Eileen, rather Northern England and I believe, especially Lancashire.

I am sure that someone will correct this Southerner if I am wrong!!!

My ex-husband was a Scot and I'm pretty sure that it's a Scottish dish well loved and 'invented' by them. During Robbie Burns night, there's always an 'address to the haggis after it's been brought to the table whilst being bagpiped in. I could never, and never shall be able to eat it, but my ex loved it!

Sorry ............ tired, second day back at work after a week off with a recurring back problem, and still trying to feel normal after my system was pumped full of strong meds for the week!
