I find the simplest things work really well ..... scrunched up paper balls; string on a stick with a big knot on the end; a plastic bottle top with a hole through and threaded with string and tied to leave a tail ... and not forgetting the cardboard box with holes cut. I'm sure a member here made an apartment block out of cardboard boxes with various cut holes for her cats

Lots of the online pet stores have sales on atm - try browsing petplanet or zooplus for ideas.

I bought some toys for christmas and the one thing both my cats love playing with is ..... a shoelace!
