Good luck with your lovely sounding cat, purplebat. My cat cries a lot, but he is 23. He always stops when cuddled or stroked or even just sees us. I'm sure he is senile and is anxious that he is lost, but so long as he can be comforted that's fine. Does your cat keep crying even if you are with him?

yes he does, nothing seems to soothe him, if he eventually settles down all you have to do is look at him and he starts again but doesn't want a fuss
