Help!!!!

I have a older female fixed cat. We have alot of cats in the house(. Used to be more but we had 2 die recently (old age) The problem is that the one cat hides under bed 24/7. Had to put food and litterbox under there. She is terrified of the other cats. Before the one cat died she would spend time in all areas of the house. Guess he was kinda her protector. Anyway I dont know what to do to help her. I have brought her out and put her on the floor to ceiling cat tree and stood with her, just so she could get time out from under the bed. IF anyone has any ideas to get her back amongst us please let me know. I am soooo upset with this but dont really want to rehome her. We are all she knows and I want her with us. Thanks for your help.

Re: Help!!!!

Has she been to the vet to rule out any illness that might be causing this behavior? Cats are incredibly good at hiding sickness. How long since the other cat, her friend, died, was that when this started?

Re: Help!!!!

It was almost immediately after he died. But would she hide that long. Its been months. She is such a sweet cat. Very loving. The others even will attack her under the bed from time to time. My hubby thinks she is missing Uggy. But I just dont know. Someone told him to get her some pills for depression. I dont know. I think its something else.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I am sorry to hear about your Cat that hides under the bed. It does sound as if she is missing Uggy. I have never heard of this type of situation before but would be inclined to say the same as Eileen re the vets visit to rule out anything physical. They would also be able to advice on things to help her relax. Keep us posted on your progress.

Re: Help!!!!

Agree with all the above - vets visit

Also if the other cats attack her under the bed, could you not just close the bedroom door for a few hours a day, maybe that way she would come out into the room + not hide continually under the bed?
