Re: What are you having for Christmas dinner?

I did a pheasant once ... never again! It came en plumage and I had to pluck it myself: never knew what an absolutely vile odor wet feathers have! But it was tasty.

Re: What are you having for Christmas dinner?

This year for us......Christmas dinner turkey & all the trimmings, christmas evening turkey sandwiches (or we might have rolls!) boxing day lunch turkey & chips and evening turkey with salad, on the 27th it will be turkey curry and for tea turkey with nibbles.

It's actually not far from the truth. We love turkey here

I ordered it at Waitrose We thought it was just going to be me and him this year so blow the budget and give ourselves a treat. Now, however, it looks as though daughter and her man will be with us after all. The roast's supposed to be enough for 3-4 people (not with our appetites ) so I'd better do extra chipolatas as well!

Re: What are you having for Christmas dinner?

I saw the 3 bird roast in the Waitrose catalogue last night, when placing my order; looked lovely!

This year I'm hosting, for the first time, the Polish Christmas Eve (Wigilia, pronounced vigeelia) - usually my Mum does it, but as she's getting on a bit I suggest I would do it and invite all Ken's family too.

Because of the Catholic tradition of no meat on C. Eve, I will be cooking a whole salmon, potato crocquets and quionoia with roast fennel and courgette and cucumber salad. There will also be barszcz (beetroot soup), gluten-free savoury pastries, Polish cheesecake, stewed winter fruit salad
