Fifi paw update

Back from the vet just now, because there has been a large scab/fur mass formed on Fi's paw where she was operated on. At first the vet said, "Oh it's a scab, I won't pull it off as it's protecting the wound". Then she started reading the notes in detail, and began to get very concerned. The scab is exactly the same as what was originally on Fifi's paw and what subsequently returned after the first operation.

So - we have to consult with the senior vet who is the one that carried out both ops but it's looking pretty certain that Fifi will need to have her front left paw amputated

I'm feeling very numb at the moment . . . my poor little baby

Re: Fifi paw update

So sorry to hear this, I hope it is not the case though. At least your vet knows what they are looking at.

No point fussing till you speak to the senior vet. Maybe an amputation is the best way to go.

When do you see the vet?

Re: Fifi paw update

Fifi is so withdrawn, and has been since the first op, that I suspect amputation will help ease her discomfort. Both Ken an I want to meet with the senior vet, so I need to arrange for someone to sit with the boys for an hour as they (when I say they, I mean Sebi) are very distracting when trying to focus on a serious conversation.

Problem is we're off on holiday in 2 weeks' time . . . the operation will have to be after we return so I'll probably be arranging to see the vet week after next (we have to cover next week for a key member of staff who's on holiday so taking time out of the office will be a no-no).

Re: Fifi paw update

Very upsetting and unsettling for you all Yola - I am so sorry that Fifi's paw hasn't healed as hoped.

As Kazz says, best not to second guess what the senior vet's opinion will be.

Gentle cuddles for Fifi.
