polydactyl cats


Hi All,
I'm on holiday from work this wk so today I've just been messing about on my laptop.I came across polydactyl cats never heard of them before. does anyone on here know anything about them or anyone thats ever had one.

It's a not really uncommon mutation where the cat has an extra toe or toes; never had one myself but have seen a few; they are actually cute!

Hi mandyb - the most famous group of polydactyl cats are the ones that still live at the Ernest Hemingway museum in Florida, cared for under the terms of his Will. Evidently half the group have extra toes!

A friend of mine has one with 6 toes on each foot...he looks like he has boxing gloves on...

My friend has one they didnt notice it til I pointed it out to them its fascinating. They used to be known as witches cats because it was thought they could hang onto the broomstick better!! and funny enough Rockstar (my friends cat) is black
