Heard of a breed called Black Smoke?

We have two 11 week old kittens we got from a rehoming organisation. My brother-in-law has two British Shorthairs & seems to think ours may be pedigree or pedigree cross. He explained their markings to a worker at his local cattery & she told him they could be a breed called Black Smoke. I havent been able to find anything on this breed. The kittens are black with a chocolatey brown underneath. They also have striped markings that have become more visible in the last 3 weeks. I have some photos that I can show & will try to get some close up shots (when they keep still for a second!).
Any feedback would be great.

Andy

Andy, it's not a breed I've heard of, but then I'm not a breeder so not familiar with many of the newer breeds.

Can you post some pictures? That may help with identification. Other than that, we have some knowledgable breeders and showers here who I'm sure will be along soon.

Yes, what Moli said, its a colour not a breed. Several breeds including the BSH has this colour variation. Post the pics if you can.

Sorry the photos don't show the markings clearly. This one is Marmite. Coco has more defined markings.

Thank you all for the quick replies.

I must admit they are lovely. I was never really a 'cat-person' but my Missus managed to talk me into it. As women do!!! They had their 1st set of injections yesterday & have slept most of today.

Our kids love them too.
