Merlin.........

Got a call from my son lastnight, Merlin is very ill, and he had to get him to the emergency vets asap....She did all kinds of blood tests, he is free of fiv, parasitic infection etc....Last night he had a 10% chance of recovering, he got a steriod injection, and this morning has picked up a lot....Now she says has an infection caused by what they though was a weasel bite a few weeks ago, and its attacking his immune system....He is on 2 tablets for the next 14 days, now his chances are 80%
Must admit have been really worried about him, but thanks to my son and fingers crossed he will make a good recovery, now they just have to get him to eat...He is to have more blood tests next week..when I am home...

Re: Merlin.........

Poor little man.
Immune system is a funny old thing really isn't it. Glad they seem to have found the problem and hoping he responds well to his tx.

Re: Merlin.........

What a worry for you - weasel bites are nasty things. Glad your son was able to get him to vet straight away.

Sure he will be fine now they know what they're dealing with.

Re: Merlin.........

Oh how scary. I must admit I would have been on my way to the airport at such news, but great that your son is there to manage the situation - it must be a great relief for you Pat.

Is this still to do with the facial swelling? Was that the cause of the bite (or underlying cause)?

I hope the lovely Merlin makes a full recovery and welcomes you home with purrs and cuddles.
