The cat's mieow

My sister told me that cats do not meiow to each other but only to humans.

So are your cats only talking to you or do they talk to one another to, vocally I mean.

How do you spell miowe?

Re: The cat's mieow

Meow usually, but an alternate spelling is miaow, as in the cat classic by Paul Gallico, The Silent Miaow. Do read it if you haven't!

Yes, cats usually communicate among themselves by body language as a rule, and scent markings, and "speak" to their people, who are too dense in the cat's mind, to interpret the subtle meanings. But hissing and growling are sort of a universal language, to other cats and to us!

forgot to say that mum cats do speak to their kittens!

Re: The cat's mieow

Interesting post, I communicate to my cats with eye blinks to reassure them all is good and foods on the way. Sounds bizarre but it works. give it a try.

should I call the men in the white coats now.
