Casper and Paddy - a shift in power but not quite - yet

Hi folks - long time no see....

I was photographing birds with a long lens but noticed that Paddy was enjoying a sunny spot against the fence down in the scruffy corner of the back garden.

Unbeknownst to Paddy, young Casper was exercising his hunting skills. They're good pals in the house and cuddle in their box together but 'outdoors' young Casper is flexing his muscles

Despite being 17 years of age, Paddy has spent his whole life as the submissive baby because Murphy, Chippy and Bramble (all recently gone) were older and bolder.

Casper is now 3 years old so interestingly he's looking to be 'top cat' even though Paddy has only just qualified to hold that title himself.

It certainly makes for some interesting little spats. Casper is bound to have his day but Paddy is certainly holding his own for now

Paddy B&W - Casper B

They are lovely photos, so clear. How far away were you? I hope Paddy manages to keep that young whippersnapper in his place for a bit longer, sounds like he's earnt that top spot!

Yes, ditto TM's post above - I love the intent on Casper's face, so clear in the photos.

Thanks for looking.

I'd say they're from about 10 meters away or so.
