Re: Katie

News is not good. Katie had bloods taken today & the kidneys are failing.

She got an anti nausea inj & an injection of Amoxicillin, plus oral antbiotics. All we can do is monitor her condition & treat the symptoms. She ate a little food tonight but has no interest in her renal food at all

Re: Katie

What horrible news Velvet. I was hoping that Katie was getting better.I do so hope that the medication kicks in and Katie starts to eat a bit more. I know that one of my colourpoints refused to eat the renal food as well, no matter how it was presented.Have you tried hand feeding Katie? My thoughts are with you and Katie.

Re: Katie

Our little Katie isnt improving, still no appetite, she just drinks & sleeps. Got different food from the vets today to no avail, nothing tempts her or if it does - one or two mouthfuls & she turns away. I feel as if shes slipping away in front of me.

Re: Katie

sorry to hear this Helen.
I assume you have tried things like warm chicken to tempt her, i know she should be on a renal diet but sometimes any food is better than none.
I know it's not the same situation but an elderly dog of mine was very indifferent to food and i used to have to spoon feed him, he enjoyed human food and at that point anything went. He also enjoyed a cup of tea which seemed to get him going a bit.

Re: Katie

I had her back to the vets this morning. He says he isnt convinced her problem is all renal, he thinks she may have a brain tumour . He gave her an appetite stimulant injection which lasts five days & then i think to think again. He says himself it doesnt look good
