Planting by the moon

Just received my copy of the National Trust magazine for the summer and there is an interesting article about planting by phases of the moon, something that is being trialled at Nymans Gardens near Haywards Heath.

Has anyone tried this themselves?

Re: Planting by the moon

Wouldn't exactly say I believe in it; a superstition I'd heard since childhood. But still, I do tend to look at the phases of the moon when planting things: root crops when it's waning, others when it's waxing. I did plant my bulbs this Spring when it was waxing....

I'd love to hear a followup on this trial; would be most interesting!
