My very first friend.

My very first friend had orange and white fur
my very first friend would cuddle and pur
when I had a headache
He would be my heating pad
He would be my ear plugs
when things got bad with Mom and Dad
He would be my Socks when my feet were cold
He would be my smiles
if my frowns were old
He would waiting for me when I came home
My very first friend
made sure I was never alone
Then one day after school
He wasn't there
On my bed stool
I called out his name and started to cry
my first best friend had left me
and I didn't know why.
I remember he had stitches due to a dog fight
We kept him for a night, night and a night.
So when his stitches were removed
I suppose it had been fun..
but Mom said that his time here was done.
Mom said he ran away the next hour
Said he had done it when she was taking a shower.
But what I still don't understand is why?
Why would my best friend leave me?
So I just stayed there and cried.
4 years later I stayed at a friend's house
and that night I felt something against my feet
It wasn't a monster, nor was it a mouse
It had to be alive because it sure wasn't dead!
but it was a orange and white cat
with a stitch scar on his head..

(Ok! I found this poem the other day! I wrote in 5th grade cause we had to write a poem that rymed lol. This is a true story. The cat that had visited me was my friends cat from down the road and it had lived with us for a year. We had found the cat laying half dead under our porch and took it to the vet and we got hims stitched up. I named him Carrot top hehe. But, after Mom took him to get the stitches out, he ran off and I remember that day. It was absolutly horrible! but Mom told me that he was sent here for help and when he got it he had to leave. Lesson learned, you can't always keep something that makes you happy. So, few years later, I stayed over with a friends house and I felt something cuddeling at my sockless feet and I got kind scared cause she never told me she had a cat. So, I picked the blanket up and sure enough it was Carrot top looking at me like "....wut?" I hugged on that cat ALL night lol and the funny thing was is that he cuddled with me all night too. I'm glad to say that he is still living and I do visit my friend and carrot top every once in a while ^^ but ya, I had to share this poem with yall, because it's funny seeing how I wrote back in 5th grade hehe.

What a smashing story Socks - bit spooky but heart warming. So glad Carrot top is still going strong.
