You Walk On By

I'm sat in my pen
With people all around
Wondering who to look at
I look at you
But you walk on by
Without a glance.

I'm sat here, lonely and afraid
Looking out at you
But you don't seem to notice me
And you walk on by.

I'm sat here wondering
If any of you will look at me
But no
You walk on by.

I'm still sat here waiting
For you to take me home
My old life was hard
But not as hard as watching you
Walk on by

I can't help my fear
I can't help my past
So I wish you would
Stop and look at me and
Not walk by

I've been here so long
Watching all of you people
But you don't notice me so
You walk on by

(I wrote that to help rehome a cat)

what a wonderful poem, made me quite emotional reading it thinking of all those poor cats still awaiting homes, I wish we could have more!

That is lovely - very touching. Did it work?

Do you mind if I borrow it? I do work for my local Cats Protection branch and we have what we call 'velcro cats'. They stick and won't let go! These are the ones we send appeals out for. Would you mind if I borrowed it? I'll credit it!

Sure! If you can use it do so.

I don't want it back by the way.

It worked even before the poem was given to the rescue centre!

I might write another poem soon. When I get chance.

I may have to go to the vets tomorrow, but I'll post about that on another thread.
