The cat formerly known as Amber... unfortunately, as this photo is on my work computer desktop, my boss asked "Why have you got a picture of a rug on your PC?" - which turned into a nickname, and it's kinda stuck

Best names I can think of or have known are

Two names of hubbies cats when he was little
Touchwood - after something to do with Catweazel?
Bast - not sure on spelling. An oriental type alley cat they had egyptian name I think

Bast or Bastet is the cat-headed Egyptian godess of love, fecundity and cats, so a very good name for an alleycat.

i used to have a cat called BRIAN my dad had named him i used to feel rather silly standing in the garden calling him

Our siamese came home one day bringing with him a very grubby, obviously lost 'white'Kitten. Took her in and as no one claimed her she was eventuallly rehomed but in the meantime she "washed whiter", so I named her PERSIL.
