Re: And then there were 3...........

I dont think Stripe is actually the kittens mummy (though I could be wrong) as she is too young I think. Of course she could just be on the very small side due to being a stray but I don't know how to check if they are hers or not.

I think the point is though if something isn't done at least spaying/neuturing then your garden could be overrun with cats in a year not that you can do more than you are at the moment don't think I am having a go I'm NOT

Re: And then there were 3...........

I didn't think for a moment you were Kazz. I totally agree that something has to be done and I will phone the CPL first thing in the morning and let you all know what they say can or cannot be done! Hopefully it will be done quickly, for their sakes!

Re: And then there were 3...........

Well they can be sexually mature from 4 months, but very unlikely to be sexually active until at least 5 months, therefore the youngest you would usually see a cat have a litter is about 7 months.

They can get pregnant whilst nursing. In fact shortly after giving birth, that's why they can produce several litters a year.

the reason cats are so easy to breed is that they ovulate after they've been mated. The process / behavioural part of mating makes the female ovulate... hey presto sperm is already there & waiting. Bingo!
With humans & dogs they ovulate - then have to be mated at the correct time to get pregnant, with cats they do it the other way round. Get mated - then to ensure pregnancy they ovulate.

I want to help with these kittens, I want to take them, but I have a list as long as my arm of kittens waiting to come in...

I can however help you to feed them Alex if that helps. I'm in Telford tomorrow, I could drop off some food for them if you want, only trouble is I have no kitten food to spare, only adult. They would be better on kitten food, but adult is better than nothing. Would you like some food?

Silly me I am in Telford tomorrow but as I'm now at work & going to Telford straight from work I won't be able to pick any food up to bring.

But will be in telford again next week. Could bring it then?

Thanks Smudgley, but I still have a bag of pro plan kitten food that we tried Teddie on plus half a box of asda own brand kitten that I have been feeding them on already. Thanks for the offer though!!! I'll try to get ahold of Stripe tomorrow and have a good nosy and report back to you lol.As I've said, if I can get them neutered I'm happy for them to live in my garden!
