Kazz, to reply to your post, we do have carol services; some schools have plays/pageants. Pantomimes, not to my knowledge, at least not in my part of the country. And no Christmas cracker hats; that's a custom that never crossed the Pond. Because of the separation of Church and State most public schools and institutions are a bit wary about displays like Nativity scenes, etc; they bring the atheists out of the woodwork with law suits... ![]() |

Pantomimes! That reminds me. It must have been about ten years ago that a group (all adult) from work went to a local but professional performance of Cinderella. Behind us (yes, they were Behind You! ![]() ![]() Lovely! ![]() |

Seems even the adults are abit confuzzled by the pantomime rituals. Lorna Luft ( Judy Garland's daughter) has been appearing as the Wicked Witch of the West in a panto of T.W.o.Oz.in Manchester; she was upset when the audience booed her onstage. Paul O'grady the TV host had to explain to her that this was a huge compliment and all part of the panto scene. ![]() Haven't been to a panto for years, I must remedy that! |
