Re: Pepper is dead.

Thanks everybody.
I'm really tired and really sad about losing her- she was a particular favourite ( although I seem to say that every time). Primrose her companion was a bit upset but we have taken down the partition between her and Jack/ Bluebell. Jack didn't like Pepper whne he first arrived and he never forgave her!
We have not had a goat live longer than 15 but I always expect my animals to live forever! Jack, Primrose, Bluebell and, we suspect, Violet are nearing 15 too and some of the sheep are also teenagers so particularly worried about my oldies in this weather.

Re: Pepper is dead.

We have no had to take Jack, our nrxt oldest goat inside the house, he is lying beside me in the study. He has become verystiff in the cold and couldn't get up yesterday morning. The vet gave him a shot of metacam and doesn't think there is anything really wrong with him other than weakness and arthritis. She thinks he is using all his energy to keep warm and has nothing left for 'strength'. He is much brighter today, but cannot stand unaided, however has now has a degree of control when lying down- yesterday he just fell. We will see how he goes and hopefully a bit of warmth and quiet will see him back on his feet, otherwise we will have to say good bye to him too.
