Re: Rather Wet Tuesday

Eileen and Angie, the book is called The little house in the woods by Herbert Mckall, published by Blackie books in 1968. I remember being deliciously scared by it.
The story briefly is about a Dog who goes into the woods, he comes across a little house where a Cat, Pig and Fox live.
It's dark and he lies on the roof peering in through a sky light and overhears the animals plotting to kidnap him and keep him prisoner.
The animals go out into the woods to hunt him and he enters the house, turns off the lamp and waits. The 3 return and enter the house one by one, he tricks them into thinking there are more dogs in the house by speaking in a different voice. He persuades them to climb into a box and carts them off one by one deep into the woods.
There was somethng quite scary for me about this story but i loved it so much.
Probably when i actualy get the book the story will be quite different but thats how i remember it.

Re: Rather Wet Tuesday

I can see how that would fascinate a child! I hope it's still as good as the memory of it, and Nana.
