That looks great Eileen! Shame we can't compare it with the old. I can imagine what it must have looked like, but I am probably doing it an injustice! Was it like any of these toasters on this nice pictorial site? (You have to click on 1940's and later!!!)

Does it make the sort of toast you like?

That was a fun site! My old one looked most like the GE one, the first on the 1940s page..wouldn't let me copy it. That sounds like the right era, post-war. They certainly made them to last in those days.

Yes, that must have been one sturdy toaster! Wonder if it was some sort of record?

Isn't it amazing that you can still buy those original toasters? And did you see how much they were charging for them???
