Generally named after where and what company makes 'em. Nothing very exciting. My OH however used to work in a Brick Library and used to go out matching bricks for customers! We used to have such fun in our"courting days" when he took me out on a brick match!!!!

Bit like my OH - he can also name the different bricklaying methods/styles . . . and he's never laid a brick in his life!!!
