Re: Heart murmur?

I think your vet sounds extremely unhelpful! Quoting something like that to you and generally shrugging his shoulders and leaving you to worry like mad. I would definately compile a list of questions but if you are nt happy and get no positive feedback, change to a different vet - I do hope you get sorted and I agree, I cant see how generally being unwell with third lids, runny poo s can be linked to the heart. It has to be two different areas that need treating. People have heart murmers for years, don t they and my friend s dog has a heart murmer and apart from being extra careful if he has to have an op it does nt cause problems and he is old now himself. Sorry to ramble, I hope you get sorted very soon, Jan x

Re: Heart murmur?

Sorry to be hearing this news Tanya, I agree with what the others have said I think you need to go back to your vets and ask some serious questions and if you are not happy with the answers don`t hesitate to go and see a different vet.
I do so hope he starts to feel better soon (HUGS) X.

They say he has a HEART MURMUR. What's wrong with my baby????? The vet said sometimes infection can go to the heart and it could be caused by this. I asked what I can do to make him better and she said NOTHING .... please help me.

Oli is my baby .... he has just turned three and seems to be soooo ill.

Thanks for reading. xx
Sorry to hear that your wee man is very unwell...
The fact that his pooping has got worse since the vet gave you tablets, makes me suspect they could be making the diarrhoea worse. For example Antirobe is a fantastic antibiotic, but lots of cats stomachs get upset with it... The danger with diarrhoea is the cat can become very dehydrated, so add water to a soft food to help prevent this happening. Ask the vet to change tablets/ antibiotics to another one... This could help LOADS!!!!
The murmer I won't go into, as the above ladies before me, have given good advice already on that.
Good luck and sending love and healing kisses to Oli x

Re: Heart murmur?

Hi everyone .... and thanks for your replies.

I took Oli to the vets again this morning ... for his heart to be checked. He seems to have more energy and his poo is beginning to look like poo rather than a watery mess. He is still rather quiet tho .... As for his heart, she said he has a bad murmur and its a GRADE 4. So long as he doesnt do too much strenuous exercise and doesnt begin to cough or seem ill he should be ok.

He is still on tablets for his pooping and his infection and we just have to keep an eye on him.
