Are any of them (probably not the BIL or nephew) plant lovers? One of those huge, pre-planted amaryllises make lovely gifts. Even non green thumb people can enjoy them...just water and sit on the windowsill. I use that for my impossible-to-buy-for people....

Readers? Not terribly imaginative, but a gift certificate at Amazon or their favorite book store? I'm always delighted to get one....

Gourmet chocolates? Fancy nuts? Expensive bottle of booze, wine, something they might not splurge on for themselves?

So glad to see someone else is struggling with the present ideas! And the ideas so far are brilliant. I especially like the idea of a night out in Glasgow / Edinburgh at a show, or the Ballet. I might pinch that idea myself Sorry, have no advice to give Elaine as I'm equally stumped. Hope you are enlightened soon!
