I don't think I can do to alone we all need to chip in. "PANIC"

Tell you what though Emma ask your neighbours (who are gardeners or have nice gardens you like) what grows well - and see what they have you like?

Re: Daffs, Magnolia's & budding Acers

ok perhaps this will be a Catsey garden I would still love your input though Karen, as I said it will not be a hard landscaped garden like your own, it will be lawn with borders etc. I just have no idea about the layout of the garden. Perhaps once I have the fence up, will will draw out some plans of the garden and we can all have a go at designing the borders??

I know some of the things I want in the garden but have no idea of what is going to look nice, I want it to be a very "pretty" garden, sort of cottagey!!!! see I have no idea what I am talking about!!! lol

You might have to have a visit to see the garden in person though that extends to anybody else that would like to join in!!! glass of wine/squash thrown in free

Now thats an idea Emma. A PLANTING PARTY.

I am not meaning to throw water or refuse your suggestion but I would hate to "ruin" your garden. I would love to try to help though really I would.

Karen, believe you me, you certainly could never "ruin" a garden

Get someone who can draw (hint!) to do a diagram of the garden and post it here....there are loads of excellent landscaping books to give you ideas, but I'm sure, knowing us, that we'd be more than happy to come up with suggestions! Are you thinking of low maintenance? Perennials? Shrubs? English cottage garden type borders? Kazz, as always, had a good suggestion: look at gardens when you're out training and note what you like...could give you some ideas, and also what thrives in your microclimate!

The garden doesn't have to be low maintenance as I would put down weed suppressive membrane/and or bark chipping to control weeds, and I am more than happy to prune etc when necessary. I have loads of seeds for flowers, mixtures of types.

It sounds as if you are going to get roped in as well DM do you fancy a holiday to the uk??

Well enough of hijacking Kazz's thread, once the garden has the fence up I will draw some pictures and post them up and lets see what we can come up with
