Re: Some ideas please

Tongue and groove + paint should be a lot cheaper than tiles too. And you see the results quickly! You are lucky to have a handy husband to do it all.

17' is a good size. Bet it will look great!

Re: Some ideas please

Well I would tile above the worktops (tiles easy to wipe away spills etc etc and esy to clean, PLUS long lasting and all they need is a touch up of the grout every now and again) then tongue and groove around the rest ie none unit walls.

It looks a light kitchen you could go plain white tiles (cheap) and maybe a border of colour, ie white row nearest the worktops then the secnd row up from the worktop colour to break it up the the odd colour tile thrown around in the rest OR choose some really tiles you like with a pattern and place those randomly in with the white tiles. Then above the units paint white like your ceiling you don't need to tile under your wallunits but around them then the none unit walls as I say T&G, painted a colour of your choice.

Re: Some ideas please

Yup - either tiling behind the cooker or a stainless steel splashback as you have a ss cooker. Tongue and groove on rest of walls - maybe a pale blue as Karen suggests to compliment the pale wood of your units.

I personally like tiles, but love the blue and cream colors. Are you going to do before-and-after pics for us?

Re: Some ideas please

Will do before and after pics if you want.

We've decided that we will put tile's along the top of the worktops then tongue and groove the rest of the way up. They will be painted a light colour, not sure exactly which colour yet tho. As I've got terracotta in my curtains and on the chairs I'm not sure whether to go for a pale blue or not. I have a chimney wall where my gas fire and back boiler are so was thinking of using that as a feature wall, maybe a light terracotta colour on that wall or would that be too much?

As you can tell I'm flippin' useless when it comes to decorating

Re: Some ideas please

Terracotta and cream sounds good - don't think you need another colour. What colour tiles would you go for? One of those two?
Before and after pics would be great!

Edit: If this link works, I love the example of the cream with the light and dark terracotta inserts.
