http://www.biosecurity.govt.nz/comme...ine-facilities Quarantine Costs in New Zealand Pets from a few fortunate places such as the UK, Ireland, Hawaii etc do not have to be placed in quarantine. Instead, they must be isolated at the owner’s home for 30 days. If your pet is not from one of the lucky countries, you will need to place it in quarantine for at least 30 days in New Zealand. This will cost you around NZ$1,200 per animal. There are five approved quarantine facilities in New Zealand located in * Avondale, Auckland (cats only) * Takanini, Auckland * Pokeno, Auckland * Levin (North of Wellington) * Aylesbury, west of Christchurch Detailed contact information for each of these four facilities is here. |

So ............... if the owners can persuade themselves that their cats could make the journey, they wouldn't need to go into quarantine. I never knew that NZ was free of those laws. Well done Elaine! |

If the owners had been interested enough they'd have looked up that info for themselves I'm sure. I know if it was me, if my cats couldn't go then I wouldn't. Poor cats, hopefully they can find a good home. |

Hi Lucy I've sent you a private message again, got a reply from a rescue centre says they are full for the moment, giving priority to stray, abused, and pregnant cats, BUT they have offered to put Max and Sophie on their website for you until they find a home for them. They also say that someone would need to hold the cats until they have a fosterer available (once other cats are homed and space is freed up) which the centre said on a more recent conversation could take a few weeks, but they say all cats, regardless of age, are found a home eventually and they are against any healthy cat being pts as they would only do this in extreme circumstances such as terminal illness or very ill health. Once it is in their foster care they will keep the cat until it is found a good home.. Isn't that promising news!.. |

Truth . . . That's an amazing offer. I hope Max and Sophie can find the loving home they obviously deserve. Please do keep us updated. |

Its my friends parents, i will be taking them on sunday, my friend is paying them a donation towards any vet visits that may be needed in the future, and they are going with lots of food, and i know these cats will be well looked after there, they live in a quiet close (not near main road) they will have theire own bedroom and a nice garden to sunbathe in. im so pleased for them! They have a couple of elderly cats already, and have always owned cats so i know they will be well looked after. Lucy x |
