I recently saw a pet deterrent, it was a small machine in the shape of a paw - you put it on the surface that you don't want your pet to jump - i.e for me the kitchen surface - and it sets off a loud screach! It does say that it does not hurt the pet!

I got it home and thought I would try it out - I put it on the floor to see if my two would investigate it - they did as I thought - and ended up PLAYING WITH IT!!!!!!!!! Had NO effect what so ever! What a waste of £8!!

 You seem to be a sucker for these gadgets Abs - remember the 'bag' one?

I was getting interested in that too as Cassie was a devil for jumping up on the work surfaces, she's not so bad but I can tell she's been up there during the night. I think she likes to look out the window!

Yeah Archie is the same, very good while we are there, but deffo gets up in the night - the plant is always moved!!!

My mum had the bag in the end - hers did not take to it either!!!

Do you find your cats jump up at the same place. If so then put doudle sided sticky tape where they jump. They hate getting stuck to it.What you will find is your clever little cat will try jumping up at another place so you end up sticky this stuff all over the place.Well at least the bread crumbs will never see the floor again
I have to say mine dont ever jump on the surfaces,i hate it.

What a good idea Sam - must get some double sided tape!!

Cassie never goes on the worktops in daytime but I can tell she's been up there in the night, little madam! I hate it too, but other than shutting her out of the kitchen at night, I don't know what else to do.

A few years ago we changed her cat flap to a see-through one and since then she hasn't gone on the work tops in the day as she'll sit by her flap and look out of her own little 'window'.

Mine look out the cat flap too - it's so cute seeing their little faces squashed up against it.

It's funnier still when you see a strange cat the other side looking in!!

Maud, my young cat plays with the labs through the cat flaps. They shove their noses through and she will swipe them with her paw. The labs keep going back for more and when they do get fed up Maud will dive backwards and forwards through the flaps trying to get them to play again!! It's hilarious :-D
