Hello all, not been on here for ages-hope you're all ok.
I have offered to become a cat/kitten fosterer for my local branch of Cats protection. I'm looking forward to it & am very excited. Anyone else on here do it?

there are many rewards but there are also so many heart aches.Hand rearing is such a tricky thing .You can only try.The worst part is when you have managed to rear them you have to hand them back. This always makes me cry.

I would to Sam - it would break my heart! Your doing such a good thing - well done!

Yes there is the sad side to it. It must take a lot of time and patience to feed very tiny kittens too - you can't help but get attached to them.

Plenty of sleepless nights but as i sad its my way of giving somthing back.Ive actually had a very good success rate with handrearing, better then my vets.TLC is the best thing you can give any animal.

smudgley

hi - He's here :-)
He had an RTA 4 weeks ago.
His face was a mess & he may still need his jaw wired, but he has done well in the last 4 weeks. he's a happy little boy, purring away all the time - enjoying cuddles. He won't eat & hasn't eat much since his accident. Must get him to eat! :?

Awww poor little chap! Sounds like he was in a nasty way. It's probably very painful for him to eat, have you tried him with some 'mushy' food? When my cat wouldn't eat the vet said to try her on pilchards in tomato sauce, also sardines. She soon got her appetite back after that!

Hope all will go well with him - give him extra cuddles from us as well!

awww bless him, keep us posted on how he is doing, hope he recovers well.

I take it the owners are un-known?

smudgley

Better not go into too much detail about the owners-but they are not unknown.

He can only eat mushy food, tried pilchards & sloppy hills ID & other slop! Just not bothered.

Guess what? he brought a little friend with him too. (only 1 though)

Awwwwww bless - hope he soon starts eating and I am sure with your TLC he will soon be on the road to recovery!

When he gets used to his new surroundings he may get a bit more inquisitive regarding his food, I do hope so anyway. You're doing a good job there!

Who's his little friend? :?

smudgley
31-01-2005, 08:20 PM
His little friend is Mrs Flea. :-D

He has gone to the vets toay & they have kept him in, they are going to monitor him & poss re-xray & maybe wire his jaw.

They will give him IV fluid if he doesn't eat at vets.

Hope he's ok, I've got to call the vets tomorrow for an update & find out when he can come back.

[quote="smudgley"]His little friend is Mrs Flea. :-D

 I did wonder if that was who you meant!!!

Awww poor little boy! His jaw must be causing him some pain so if the vet can sort that out maybe he'll take an interest in some food. I think you are doing a marvellous job taking him on in that condition.

BTW what's his name?

Abbi

He's called Jerry

I've got a photo - but can't post it (I'm rubbish at it - I'll try again later)

Mags

I wonder if his little friend was Tom?

I hope you can get the photo posted, would love to see him.

Have you heard how he is today?

smudgley
05-02-2005, 05:19 PM
Mags - I just can't get the photo on here :x .

But I'll e-mail it to you if you want to see him. I've PM'd you my e-mail addy. :D

Anyway - he's doing good, he didn't have any x-rays or his jaw wired, just antibiotics & some IV fluid to rehydrate him & good as new! He is coming on in leaps & bounds now. A potential owner has been to see him, she is also seeing another CP cat & will let me know which one she wants. He's not quite ready to rehome yet, needs more cuddles from me first  I think another week and he should be ok to go.

Pleased to hear Jerry didn't need anything major doing at the vets. It's amazing how quick they pick up isn't it - must be all your TLC! I hope he goes to a good home after all his trauma.

Awww poor Jerry, he looked quite sad in the pics Smudgley but that's understandable after what he's been through :(

He's got a nice thick coat hasn't he!
