Glad Ted's back home Sam and that she seems brighter. Maybe the chicken will help her digestion a bit better, let's hope so.
I know you don't mind but it seems a lot of work for you as well as having to look after the other kittens. I hope they find out what's causing the sickness soon.

update .the vets have concluded shes had a very nasty virus. The problem is they dont know what long term damage has been done as it knocked her sidways. Shes on steriods and very strong antbiotic which has not very nice side affects so its hard to tell which is sickness or the antibiotic.we will see
Looking on the bright side shes eating really well and her sickness has almost dissappeared? No bum washes since mon morning. She started playing today and shes now following me everywhere like she used to.She even comes to the loo with me .Thanks for your suport and keep your fingers crossed. We see a specialist on friday.

Teb has been rushed into the vets for emergancy operation. She has ruptured her intestine and internal bleeding. The virus has actually eaten into her intestine causing it to be perforated.Shes gone through operation very well as they were very worried as shes so thin.I have been worried to death but true to form Ted has pulled through. That was yesterday and today shes eating like she hasnt seen food. All very wet food more like soup but thankfully she is eating this.Still has to go back to vets Friday. My vets have called in to see her twice today as shes home when really she should be in the vets. They are pleased with her progress and shes much more relaxed.will keep you informed

Oh Sam, I'm very, very sorry to hear about Ted....just as we were thinking she was beginning to pick up a little. Sounds like she's had a really rough time. That's nice that they've let her come home so soon after her op and I'm sure she'll get better a lot quicker under your loving care. I'm so pleased to hear she's eating something as well.

Still got my fingers crossed for her and thinking of you.
Take care,
Mags xx

Weve got back from vets with good news. The specialist has confirmed the damage to her intestine was her second problem (first being virus) and due to quick action shes now on the right road to recovery. With loads of TLC ita amazing what can be done and she dosnt go short of that here. The vets are very pleased with her progress.Just have to pray that she can gain weight as this could now be her next hurdle. However shes eating well and tomorrow can start on biscuit which she would rather have. All things considered its looking good. Thanks for all of your support in these very trying times and merry christmas to you all

Mags ,thanks for asking.Ted has had a good christmas.Shes eating well and her coat is starting to shine again.Shes been playing like a kitten and just seems so much better. As i said TLC is wonderful stuff. My vets have been brill to as we have known them for over 15 years they are part of our family. They have been in to visit her and to make sure shes ok.She goes back to vets this Friday so will see what they say.I dont think she has put any weight on as yet,but thats going to take time

Shes still a way to go.She cant absorde her food at the moment so everything goes through. Were waiting on test results as she went to Bristol vetinary school. It could be her Pancras?till results are through its a waiting game and with the horrable week i have had im praying she will be fine.

Mags
11-02-2005, 10:11 AM
I have been wondering about her Sam but after your trauma of the last week I haven't liked to ask.
I'm still thinking about her (and Bugs!) and hope they can come up with a cure for her.

Well dreaded results have come in.It is her Pancreas an inbalence which is why food goes straight through. She has had an injection on Friday gone to try and balence her out. However there may be damage which could be very serious as this has been going on since christmas. She may have to go onto a prescription diet as last resort and if this doesnt work then its not looking very good for her or Bug.This is the doom and gloom told by my vets but as is normal in my house things are never what they seem.Ted is eating and horay she will eat chicken breast with wiskers kitten mixed in.Since sat her motions have been normal which i can tell you is just heaven. She was on 4x bum washes a day.She has to be very carefully monitored weighing her and food and a monthly blood test for now untill things settle. She has another trip to Bristol in 4 weeks and we take it from there. This all started from her catching my flu,boy do i feel guilty

Awww sorry to hear about Ted's results, the poor little angel is going through a lot isn't she. You seem the type of person who will take anything that's thrown at her and I know you're strong enough to fight this with her.

It's nice to hear she is eating a lot better - and her little botty problem has improved!

I didn't realise cats could catch our flu

We're all keeping our fingers crossed for her Sam - and for Bugs.

Shes actually looking much better ,the best she has been in a long time. She has also gained since sat 11oz which is really good. The fact that she has improved so much in a short time has to be a good sign, well thats how im looking at it.I will never give up unless she starts to suffer then its a different matter. She has always been reasonably happly, just looks so thin and im trying my best for Bug as the 2 are so close.I dont know how Bug wouls cope without her sister.
They can catch most things we get and dont let any vet tell you different. We have proved this so many times(thats how i lost Meg)

I really do hope it's a good sign that things are looking better these past few days, she's been through so much. I expect Bug wonders what's going on all this time {{{{hugs for Bugs}}}}

Ted went to my vets today and they have cancelled the appointment at Bristol.Thankfully things are looking really good.Shes eating well and putting on weight.Shes back to being the grumpy old cat that we know ,love and have missed so much.Shes still on every other week to my vets for blood test and check but they reckon another 2 and she can go every 3 months. That will be so much better.Just got to wait for the vet bills to come in,not looking forward to them(worth every penny)

Mags

Aww Sam, I'm glad things are looking better with Ted.....what a little fighter she is! It seems such a long time that she has been unwell and as you say, they are worth every penny to see them get better.
