Will Jinks only be allowed to go to a home with a computer so that she can continue her purrgramming?

My mum has a white Persian, he is a lot of work with his coat, but beautiful.

shonedek
04-12-2004, 07:24 PM
i have 11 persians and it takes about 5mins perday to do there coats.they are top and tailed daily with talc and then once a week talced all over and a througher brushing. You will find that if you use talc it helps to keep the hair open to the skin and dosnt knot half as much so grooming is much easier

Mags
04-12-2004, 07:29 PM
That's a good tip about the talc Sam.

With all those Persians to look after I expect you now take the grooming in your stride! :D

shonedek

grooming is second nature.dont give it a thought anymore.Been doing it to long Ha Ha (better then running)

Abbi

Blimey 11 !!!!!

My mum finds it very hard and has tried to do it every day, but he really hates it, she is extremely gentle, but he still moans. It is ok though not knotty or clumpy, just sometimes he gets the odd knot.

theres not a lot you can do when they dont like it.we have one with the nick name tiger cub cos thats what its like when we brush him .he totally hates it

Abbi
05-12-2004, 11:18 AM
Yeah I know what you mean - he lets you for a while then starts getting ratty and hisses and growls!

Mags
05-12-2004, 02:35 PM
Is the secret to start brushing them as young as possible?

Abbi
05-12-2004, 03:23 PM
Yes it is Mags, then they just thinks it a part of life - but her persian is 9 years old and still hates it - as Sam said if they hate it there is not much you can do about it!

:?

i start brushing my babies from 2 weeks then they dont mind ,they also get 2 baths before they leave so that being bathed and blow dried is just part of life. The boy i have that hates being brushed was not started on till 10weeks old which is way to old.Theres no way i would even try to bath him, there would be serious damage to me .Hes a lovely cat just not been taught about persian life style

Abbi
05-12-2004, 06:09 PM
Maybe that is why my mums cat hates it - the breeder might not have brushed him!! My mum got him at 12 weeks.

shonedek

sounds like it Abbi.If there started late its just one big battle that you never really win. They let you go so far and thats it.My lads breeder hadnt even introduced him to family life.Been penned all through his kitten hood so had real culture shock when he came home to me.This was only a few years ago and some breeders still bring up kittens this way.

Abbi
05-12-2004, 06:30 PM
Awwww that's sad :(

Mags

Sounds like some little kitties don't get any affection at all before they go to their new homes.

But how can these people not fall for a tiny, helpless, beautiful kitten?

Abbi
05-12-2004, 06:56 PM
I suppose some people just see it as a job and an income, I know if it was me I would have trouble selling them, I would end up with a house full of cats!!!

Mags
05-12-2004, 06:59 PM
Too true! I know I would get too attached to them and there would probably be waterworks after each one left home :smt022 :smt022

The worst ones are the ones you hand rear.I get so attached but i know they will have a fab home as im very careful where my babies go.Dosnt stop me crying when they go through the door like my last one.boy did i cry.Their new owners can give so much more then i can as i have a houseful. They never want for anything which is the main thing :)

Abbi

The breeder who I got my Amber from was the most wonderful person and we both cried when I took Amber away - she loved the kittens so much - we are still in touch now 2 years on! :D

shonedek
05-12-2004, 07:23 PM
i wish more of the new owners would keep in touch. They dont seem to realise that you do love and have feelings for all the babies you have(well i do perhaps im just sad). You never forget your littles ones that you bring into this world. They are all precious little jems.

Abbi
05-12-2004, 07:28 PM
Your not sad at all Sam its so nice to hear that you care.

Do you "vet" the people that come to view the kittens - we got vetted all three times I have bought a predigree kitten.

shonedek
05-12-2004, 07:32 PM
yes i do Abbi and i have turned 2 away as i didnt like them. One wanted the baby as they thought it was a status symbol and the other turned up all in white and kept brushing the hairs from her clothes.I care about my babies and dont breed for the sake of breeding.

Mags
05-12-2004, 07:34 PM
Sam, couldn't you put a clause in the new owners contract saying that they MUST send you a photo on the kittens first birthday? :D
Just think what a nice before and after 'album' you could have. :)

Abbi
05-12-2004, 07:34 PM
I have heard stories like that from other people - it's disgusting! And I am very glad to hear you turned them down - but what do you say to them?

Sorry being very nosey!

shonedek
05-12-2004, 08:12 PM
on the kitten pack i have a little bit about them sending photos to the breeder as its nice to see them later, but ive only had a few.Abbi i just tell them that the kitts are not for sale and show them the door. The woman in white got a bit funny but as i said i dont have to sell them. :)

Abbi
05-12-2004, 08:25 PM
Who cares about her Sam, you do the right thing :D

shonedek
05-12-2004, 09:01 PM

Abbi

shonedek

well atleast i know mine are safe and well looked after.I can sleep at night .problem is theres to many in for the money and no regard for the kits.they should be stopped
