I know exactly what you mean Kazz! I suppose Cassie has had hers since she was 3 (she's 7 now). Hers is so floppy and not that far off the ground

My previous cat had it as well and when I asked the vet about it, he said it was a build up of fat. That put my mind at rest as I was beginning to worry about it. It got to a stage when I was looking at every cat to see if they had the same.......and they didn't :(

Perhaps I've been overfeeding them.....or they are just lazy! :?

Would be interested if anyone could explain it :?

My MIL's oldest cat has got to be at least 10 and she's looking really fit, no saggy belly, yet her daughter who is 2 has a really saggy belly :smt017

Amber has the saggy'est belly in the world, I think it has something to do with the age that the are "done" Archie my male cat has not got one and Daisy (my moggie) who was "done" at a mature age does not have one.

Amber is slim and not over weight but does have a really saggy belly - its quite cute though! :D

Ahh, that might explain it. Cassie was 'done' at six months and Sam at eight months.

It's nice to know that there are several more saggy bellies out there besides mine (oops I mean Cassies  ).

You could be right about the excercise thing though,
Cleo had her saggy belly from about 7-8 I think and she never went anywhere except the front or back garden. Whereas Oscar never got his till he was about 15-16, and slowed down a little.

Baggy Bellies - the cat equivalent of bingo wings

My two are sisters from the same litter. One has a BB (from about the age of 7), the other not. The one with a BB has always been more active and goes out much more, but is also bigger than her sister but not at all overweight. They were both spayed at the same time.

Reckon it's luck of the draw

All my cats got there's after they had been speyed. I think Oliver has an identity crisis, cos he got one too:roll:

I thought they came because of the spey???

All my girl cats have or had "hangy-down tummies" as a friend of mine calls it...the boys, no. I think Misty was about 5 or 6 when she developed one, but she was the most exercise averse cat !!! Leia is developing one now; she turned 7 in March. Actually, I shouldn't have said "all"; Patches has been a skinny cat all her life & is still a skinny cat at 20! Misty was spayed at 5 months; Leia at 4. It's funny to watch when they tear through the house with the tummy swaying from side to side lol

Jet was spayed at 6 months. When i took her to vet for a check up I asked about her hanging belly, he said it's because she has been spayed. I thought she was putting on weight. Again her belly goes from side to side when she is walking.

India arrived with a baggy belly, so I can't be accused of over feeding her. Little Melba was 16 1/2 yrs old and was still as slim as a kitten. She was spayed at 7 months old. Nelli Kim went baggy but that is the only other one I can think of although Sasquatch just got big all over, he was an enormous ginger tom. No can't remember any of the others going baggy. Logoes.

I think a lot of it is down to the individual cat and its genes or whatever. All my cats have been treated the same, neutered at similar ages etc - some had bellies, some didn't  Bit like people really............

My siamese have hangey belly's, and the vet nurse told me it was due to spaying, they are only 10months and 16months old...

Ooh, still not sure how Murphy ended up with a saggy belly then if the general consensus is that it is due to spaying? His brother has a nice firm belly but Murphy's (10 months) is quite noticeably saggy and droopy!

Making me feel much better (and it makes sense I suppose, they do seem to become really long when the jump and stretch).:D
