As you know my friend has a litter of 2 kittens. She has found that the mum of the kittens feeds them but that's it. The kittens grandmother washes them and plays with them, their mum doesn't seem to want to know. If the kittens are out of their box and running around their mum will hiss at them and walk out of the room :smt017
Anyone any ideas why she does this? She's done it ever since the kittens were born.
It sounds almost as if she is rejecting them (other than feeding them) cos she knows grandma will look after them.
Sorry can't really help Naomi but I'm sure there are some breeders on here who may know the answer.

If it's working and they are healthy its prob ok.. sounds like shes a lazy mother tho cos she knows 'grannie' will do the dirty work - has ur friends rang the vets?

No she thought that seems as they are healthy and they are feeding off the mum that they are okay.
She is getting the mother cat done as she doesn't think that she's making a very good mum :(
Norty mother cat. Maybe granny cat could be given another go lol
