Last week we were going away in our caravan for a few days.
Emily & Smudge were in the house & Mitten was mooching around outside, this is what we do whenever we go away & my dad pops in daily to feed & check on them. (Mitten can get into a sheltered area where her blanket is & her food)
we loaded up the caravan & off we went!
We arrived, positioned the caravan & a face appeared in the caravan window, grinning & saying "meow"........... naughty Mitten had sneaked in the caravan
I was going to bring her home, but decided to see how she got on there, she loved every minute of her first ever holiday!
Hi Smudgley!
Wot a lovely tale! :)
How did you manage.....did you get a harness for her to take her out or did you keep her in the caravan all the time? :?
Watch out now, she'll want to go away with you all the time!!

well, luckily we had a large folding dog cage with us - so we popped her in there when we first arrived.
Made a litter tray out of the base of a cardbord box & used soil in it.
Fed her on tuna - til we could get some cat food.
Then each morning (6am) we took her out for a walk (I wouldn't advise this as she could of done-a-runna) no harness, she just walked with us, then we let her snooze in the caravan, which she loved & made no attempt to try & escape, even though the awning was open. Then from lunchtime onwards she went in the cage & when we went to bed she slept in the caravan.
So we had a good routine for her.
6am - stretch legs.
7am - slob in the van
12.00 - cage
bedtime - in the van.
She purred away in the cage & loved watching everyone having fun. (she's such a nosy cat, it was her idea of heaven)
we also had 2 dogs with us & fun was had by all.
Sounds like she had a wonderful time and loads of attention!
Just had a thought.....maybe you might like to take all three cats next time! lol :smt042
sounds like it was a real adventure for her! I hope u took some pics too!! :-) Yeah imagine if you took all of the cats with you! I reckon Cheetah would love it BUT she definately would do a runner!!! We used to take her for a run in thefields behing our old house and she LOVED it, only thing is it made her call even more :-(

my mother has a 2 year old cat and since he was 6 months (after he was done) she has taken him with her in the caravan, she used to put him on an harness but she dont bother any more. they go for a walk in the morning and he has a good run around and again in the night and then all day sleeps in the van. he loves it and has never done a runner,
yeah thas brill!!
If we keep a male cat back I'd really love to train him to walk on a leash with Rocky! :-) Only if they are best friends tho! :-)
They would look like Little & Large then Azz!
Would be good if it did happen though....you'd certainly get lots of attention! :P
nah dont want attention! we get too much now as everyone looks at Rocky  Just thought it would be nice for a cat to have walks too! :-)

Our Kylie walks on a harness and lead. As does Geri but thats only when SHE wants to, otherwise she just flops over  We only trained them that cause we travel in the car with them alot, and its better for them to get a walk after being in a crate for hours. Mind you, they LIKE the car.
It makes sense to train them with a harness and lead cos, as you say, you can give them exercise if you travel alot.
Funniest thing I ever saw a couple of years ago was a parrot on a harness and lead walking along a busy seafront! Everyone seemed to stop to look at it and it just carried on unperturbed!
Not your usual every day sight!
hey Bastet any pics of them on walks??? :-)
Mags u didnt have your camera with u did ya?!

Awww, sorry Azz. Not at the moment, but I'll go and get some for you then. :D
No, I didn't have a camera that day Azz, pity cos I don't think we'd ever see a sight like that again!
they should make computers than can read 'pictures' from our brains!! cool huh?
Hey, thats a good idea! :smt115
one day they will...
