It's easy to add pictures to your posts, here's how...

First you need to have your pictures hosted somewhere - you can get your pictures hosted for free in sites such as http://photobucket.com

---------------Photobucket.com step by step-------------------

If you are using photobucket.com to host your pictures... follow this step by step: (skip this bit if your pictures are hosted elsewhere)

Go to www.photobucket.com and sign up an account.

UPLOADING PICTURES

> in the 2nd Grey Box, where it says 'Add Picture' click on 'Choose'
> a new box opens where u can view your PCs hard drive, find the picture you want to upload and click on 'open'
> click on 'Submit'
Presto - your pic is uploaded! (see 'resizing' below before posting)

RESIZING

> Click on the picture to see how big it is - if it's too big, click on the 'back to (your username)'
> Above the picture click on 'edit'
> Scroll down to where it says 'Resize Picture'
> Click on 50% or 25% (75% might make it too small)
> Click on 'Resize'
> Done! (If the image is still too big you can resize it further by doing the same again)

POSTING

Under each picture you will find three boxes Url, Tag and Img. We need the code in the IMG box, so simply copy that and place it into your post here on Catpages...Presto!

---------end of step by step------------------

Instructions for other hosts

Please note that the url for the image must end in an image format such as '.jpg' otherwise it will not display (so Image hosting websites such as shutterfly and MSN won't work).

Once you have the picture you want to include in your post (after you have it hosted somewhere that is), right click on it to find it's path - this is how it's done in IE:

Right click on the image you want to include

> go to 'properties'

> find where it says 'Address URL'

> highlight the 'address'

> right click on it then click on copy (or simply press [Ctrl] and [c])

Now back in this forum, when you go to post the picture add this code:

the image 'address' or URL (Which you can now simply paste by right clicking the mouse and going down to 'paste'

Presto! It's that simple!

A few simple rules to follow:

- Please make sure you have permission from the picture owner before posting

- Please make sure that each image is not too large as we have to consider users who do not yet have broadband. As a general rule aim for a maxium file size of around 60k per image although the absolute maxium size is 100k per image - any images above this size will be removed. (To see how big an image is, right click it and go to 'properties' to resize an image, use this: http://www.myimager.com/myImager.cfm?p=open&f=0 or http://photobucket.com ).

- It should go without saying... no 'rude' (of adult nature) pictures!

BC, I have a Mac, not a PC, but in Photobucket I just click on the IMG thing and a small yellow sign appears next to it saying "Copied". So then I just go thru the usual steps in my post and it appears.....

I do that and when I copy it into a new thread on cat pics it doesn't do anything? should I be posting then somewhere else first?

When you're on the thread, do you click on the little picture symbol (the one that looks like a postcard)? A box should appear up to the right asking for the info; on my Mac I just depress the Apple symbol and capital V and the code appears in the box, click on OK and there it is! This may only be for a Mac though...hope it helps...

When I go into catsey (with the copied img) I open a new thread then paste into the box. Where would the reply box be??? I know I'm now sounding really dim but I only get a reply box when replying to other peoples threads not posting a new one

I'm sorry BC, it is the box you are posting in.....whether you are starting a new thread or replying to one..;) Just make sure you click in the box first to make it 'active'...;)

Can I just ask.... I no longer have a photobucket account and images are stored on my computer. However when I right click them and hit 'properties' there is no address or URL for me to copy. Is there any other way of me putting pics on?

Hi babycakes, is there any reason why you can't register a new Photobucket account?

I have major problems with photobucket and so do a lot of people. My problem is it keeps showing the same picture. I am sure someone will give you better instructions than me but, safe to say, you are not on your own with this problem. Photobucket drives me mad and its their problem not ours.

Rosie is the black short hair, she flirts with Alan and follows him around

Raffles black and long hair, he just loves to be cuddled all the time and is very affectionate , he sleeps on my bed.
