Hullo to everyone. Haven't been on for a couple of days as the shingles have been so painful.I've been faithfully swallowing the HUGE anti-viral pills (5x per day) but unfortunately cannot keep the pain medication down. I am suffering in silence and today is my birthday (54 years young). I was planning to go out for a meal with my cousin and then on to the casino for a bit of a flutter, but had to put it off. My birthday will be celebrated next week or whenever I feel able to do so.For now, the carpet fleas are winning as I cannot vacuum, but I will be back with a vengeance as soon as possible.

Hope everyone on Catsey is keeping well ,especially Kazz and Fecto's mum.Hope your scan gives a good result Kazz and Fecto's mum, hope your back is much better now.My poor kitties wonder why I push them off the bed. I cannot stand them on me at the moment - it's too painful.I'll make it up to them next week though.

Enjoy your day everyone.

I am so sorry to hear that you are in so much pain, dinky. You might ask your doctor for some gastro-resistant tablets which help you take your painkillers. I can't take antibiotics and had a drug called Lanzoprazole prescribed which meant I could take them without having bad stomach pains etc.

Sorry about your birthday celebrations having to be put on hold too - but you will feel better and be able to go and enjoy them later.

Sorry you are so poorly and can you not have an anti sickness injection to help with that.

Unfortunately, the anti-virals haven't stopped the spread of the virus. It started around my waist and now I have it on one side of my face around one eye.Luckily the initial pain is a lot better now ,but I'm now on steroids and yes, different pain meds. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't need to take them as I can cope at the moment. Just don't want it to affect the sight in that eye, but I have a great doctor. OK, that's the end of my moaning about shingles. Thanks for all your good wishes and for putting up with me moaning.

Hi Dinky, glad you are able to take something for the pain. I think your sight will be OK, know someone who had shingles in their eyes and they were OK. Unfortunately shingles pain does take a while to go after the virus. I still get it recurring on the back of my thigh where the sciatic nerve is. When I get a blister I mix a small amount of VERY strong black coffee and dab that on with cotton wool. Oddly this seems to work, no idea why. It was suggested to me a few years ago. My back is loads better, thank you. Just come back from my Mum's where I've done some painting for her and my back stood up well.

Get better soon, it will pass.

Glad to hear you are mending dinky and the pain isn't as bad. Strange thing about the coffee - please let us know if you find that works too.
