Drive me crazy!

How many things in my house go beep at me for no reason that I know of, and what's more, I have no idea what has beeped!

A couple of nights ago, we had at least three power cuts and I got woken up by (1) something that beeped at me; (2) the answerphone telling me it was switched off; (3) the outside lights coming on.

Extra annoyingly, these beeps tend to be high pitched, which means my OH doesn't hear them.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGGGHHH :smt017 :smt017 :smt017 :cat14 :cat14 :cat14 :cat26 :smt027

Please help me by listing all the things that MIGHT Beep at me!

You could try and pinpoint what room each comes from 1st by shutting all the doors and listening in each room for the loudest to start with, or go right up to them, my guess is the smoke alarm with a low battery or needing a reset is often the highest regular beep, it sends out very short sharp 'pip's. Some pip with just a change in temperature and need resetting, (most annoying if you're a cat trying to have a kip).

Carbon monoxide detectors next perhaps, if anyone knows how they beep.. Fridge compressors can make an annoying irregular clicking sound, all manner of electronic clocks on any device, and mobiles being the most common beeping gadgets after that. Hard to describe sounds, I only know what my fridge and smoke alarm sound like.
I hope you locate the offending beeps soon, they can be quite irritating.
