Yes, I loved it too! I've watched it twice now, once at first viewing and I recorded it and have watched it again. Bowled over by Tom Baker's appearance, although I'd heard a rumour he was going to be there. Also loved the interplay between Matt and David!

As for viewing figures, the BBC quotes "At its peak, the show was watched by 10.61 million viewers, with an average of 10.2 million across the 75-minute running time."

The programme also made a record - "The Day of the Doctor was broadcast in 94 countries at the same time as it aired on BBC One on Saturday night - earning it a Guinness World Record as "the world's largest ever simulcast of a TV drama"."

I think Peter Capaldi has a very hard act to follow.

I agree. Matt has been a great doctor, though not as good as David lol. But was let down by some lacklustre stories, although Moffat did do very well for the 50th. Looking forward to seeing if Peter Capaldi can live up to those eyebrows lol.

I watched it for the second time too and was looking for clues to the next episode and for the future of the Doctor. I grew to love Matt Smith but David Tennant was my favourite Doctor of the 'modern' era. Loved Tom Baker's cameo and hope he hops in from time to time with words of wisdom. The change to Peter Capaldi is going to be a challenge as I imagine he's going to be as obnoxious as he is in The Thick of It, which is stupid of me, he's a great actor of course! :)
