he is such a wee darling Kazz (except when hes on the lead!!) He is going to be spoiled rotten just like the 2 cats. The only time he is in the end room s bed time and if we go to the shops, dont fully know how he will react when left alone with the cats so will keep things as they are for another week or so.

I dont know the solution, I have seen really well behaved spaniels on lead and walking to heal off lead but those have usually always been ones owned by game keepers etc. Pretty much all pet spaniels I have seen, met and walked have been a bloody nightmare on lead.
Just watched a few clips on youtube about how to train them but I dont like the whole push and pull training method.

I'll be very interested in hearing what methods the trainer uses, Pamela. Will you be included in the training or your OH? I say this because Dora is a right pain on lead.

Have you thought of trying a head collar Angie? I notice a lot of larger dogs where them seem to work.

i bought a Halti head collar for my mums dog Ty, and he is no longer a nightmare to walk! the harness's helped a bit but he was just using all his weight in his chest and neck to pull but seriously, the head collar is amazing! and its cheap too! the only downside is a lot of people take one look and assume its a muzzle where clearly it isnt! (esp when hes got a ball in his mouth or his tongue hanging out!!) so i've had a few comments while walking him on it.

That's a good idea .... a few of the larger lurchers at our class have them.
